The stability and preservation of the samples collected in the CellPreserv®Kolplast liquid medium in various validations carried out in partner laboratories has demonstrated optimum analytical performance, without causing interference and/or inhibition of its chemical preservative components in the real-time PCR reactions.

The Kolplast CellPreserv collector allows other molecular biology tests to be carried out on a single sample, in addition to morphological analysis.

The Liquid Cytology System collector CellPreserv Kolplast was developed for the preparation of liquid cytology and has several analytical advantages over the conventional cell smear method. It also has the benefit of allowing other molecular biology tests to be carried out on a single sample, in addition to morphological analysis, thus increasing the scope for research into women’s intimate health. The most up-to-date Molecular Biology methodologies are capable of researching nucleic acids, DNA and/or RNA, both to identify the presence of infectious agents and to research pathologies or genetic conditions of an individual from a sample of biological material. Molecular assays make it possible to find results with high sensitivity and specificity, and are in line with the latest and safest diagnostic methods in human health. Existing automations currently require a small fraction of the sample volume, between 300-1,000ul, for simultaneous research into molecular assays for detecting HPV, sexually transmitted infections and genetic tests, such as research into thrombophilia and even food intolerances. The implementation of HPV DNA tests has increased the effectiveness of cervical cancer screening programs, detecting high-risk lesions earlier in women aged 30 and over in cases of negative cytology for intraepithelial lesions or malignancy, as well as reducing the need for colposcopies and unnecessary treatments in patients with cytology results showing squamous cell atypia of undetermined significance.

Sample preservation One of the most frequently asked questions in a clinical laboratory after the collection of biological material is HOW TO PROPERLY PRESERVE THIS MATERIAL THAT HAS BEEN COLLECTED UNTIL ITS ANALYSIS? The definition of this stage will always be linked to the analytical validation carried out, assessing the stability and preservation tested, and taking into account the preservative medium used and its components, the necessary prior preparations and the ideal packaging for proper preservation of the material. Stability and preservation of samples collected in liquid medium CellPreserv Kolplast liquid medium in various validations carried out in partner laboratories has demonstrated optimum analytical performance, without causing interference and/or inhibition of its chemical preservative components in real-time PCR reactions, as well as allowing the material to be collected and transported at room temperature, without the need for prior refrigeration. This condition of high stability and preservation of cell morphology and genetic material in the samples, when collected with the liquid medium CellPreserv Kolplastliquid medium not only increases the capillarity of preventive tests in the country, but also facilitates the entire analytical production chain, from the material collection stage to its processing and the release of reliable and safe results.
