The Kolplast Group, a 100% national company, celebrates its 35th anniversary, consolidating its position at the commercial and technological forefront of the sectors in which it operates
Essentially, a company is a collection of human beings with a variety of skills and backgrounds, dedicated and committed to offering the best they can to the society in which they live.
Unlike humans, however, a company is not born, it is founded, it has no parents, it has founders, but from then on the differences begin to soften. Although the baby needs special and permanent care, it also needs nourishment which, in this case, comes from the market’s acceptance and approval of what it is capable of producing and delivering, both in the form of products and services.
Just like human beings, once Kolplast was founded, it prepared itself to survive the initial moments and then embark on the path of growth. This solid initial preparation, and the first steps taken in what has always been the irremovable and immutable direction towards the customer, largely explains the success of the journey so far.
In a way, the company was founded in a “splendid cradle” because its first product, the disposable vaginal speculum, simply didn’t exist on the market and this novelty kind of molded the DNA and laid the foundations for the company to make innovation and pioneering its dynamos of development and growth.
As an almost inevitable consequence, gynecology as a medical specialty and women’s health as a major market sector have since received numerous valuable contributions for safer, more practical and more accessible operation and development.
Still young, at the age of 10 and then 13, in 1998 and 2001 respectively, the Kolplast provided the Ministry of Health with an exclusive offer of a total of 9 million kits for the prevention of cervical cancer, in the only two national campaigns that the country has sponsored in its history for this purpose.
On those occasions, what would become the standard in terms of instruments and supplies for this purpose was defined, including the cervical brush produced according to international standards, and it brought to gynecological laboratories the beacon that would illuminate their steps in terms of supplies offered to gynecologists. This established a new model of interaction between these two players on the national medical scene. Laboratories all over the country then turned their eyes to Kolplast.
A brand within a brand
It didn’t take long, especially after the presentation of the kits used in cervical cancer prevention tests, for laboratories and then other health institutions to realize the potential that the Kolplast presented to solve existing problems by offering customized products, or even help develop new market strategies for these institutions.
The number of laboratory institutions for which Kolplast produces kits is huge these days, with a variety of compositions, but with the common feature of having the laboratory’s logo on the packaging. The product designed in this way is purchased by the laboratory and sent to its partner gynecologists who, in turn, return the diagnostic slides to the laboratory. It’s a successful partnership that has spread to the pharmaceutical industry and, subsequently, to hospitals that purchase suitable kits for their own operational protocols.
Towards maturity
Today’s Kolplast Group has continued to incorporate products and technologies, moving into other medical specialties and health sectors, and has also introduced disposable anuscopes and rectosigmoidoscopes, gynecological clamps, specific kits for various medical procedures and many other products and services to the market. Today, the company produces tens of millions of products on a monthly and annual scale, maintaining undisputed leadership in its sectors.
An important step was taken with the conquest of several international markets for which exporting is now a reality, both financially and conceptually, as it has presented and made the company’s name respected far beyond our borders.
Now, at the ripe old age of 35, the Kolplast Group is honored to present this victorious trajectory, to share its successes with each and every one of its collaborators and to thank the thousands and thousands of clients for their loyalty, support and recognition, which have been the driving force behind our trajectory from the outset.
Installed in a large manufacturing plant in the city of Itupeva, 75 km from the capital of the state of São Paulo, the Kolplast Group, supported by hundreds of employees, puts into practice state-of-the-art production methods and processes, which qualify the Unit within the concepts of “Industry 4.0”.
